Who should not take Dexilant?
Children younger than 2 years of age—Use of Dexilant is not recommended. Adults and children 12 years of age and older—30 milligrams (mg) once a day for 4 weeks. Children younger than 12 years of age—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor. Children younger than 2 years of age—Use of Dexilant is not recommended.
What are the side effects of Dexilant?
Most common side effects (gastrointestinal symptoms, headache) associated with Dexilant use are mild and will go away on their own after several days of taking the medication. Serious side effects (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, bone fractures) require prompt discontinuation of the medication.
How do you take Dexilant?
Use the medicine exactly as directed. Take Dexilant with a full glass of water. Dexilant may be taken with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole and do not crush, chew, break, or open it. If you cannot swallow a capsule whole, open it and sprinkle the medicine into a spoonful of applesauce.
